Body. Love. Movement. is a body positive event series created by Fat Girls Hiking to bring movement communities together. For this event, Fat Girls Hiking is teaming up with Anna Chapman of Body Love Yoga for a workshop + yoga + hike. 

Workshop: We will start our morning with a workshop focusing on joyful movement, self care, the body love spectrum and our connection to nature & ourselves. Participants are encouraged to bring a notebook & writing utensil. 

Hike: Fat Girls Hiking is a diverse body positive outdoor community based in Portland, OR. We want to take the shame & stigma out of the word FAT & empower it. Our motto, Trails Not Scales focuses on Self Care in the outdoors. We promote weight-neutrality & Health At Every Size. Trails Not Scales reminds us that the more we hike, the more love we have for ourselves & our bodies just as they are.

The hike is located in the Columbia Gorge area & leads to Upper McCord Falls. The hike is 2.2 miles roundtrip with 400ft elevation gain and rated as easy. We will go at a pace that feels comfortable for everyone in the group and listen to the needs of our bodies as we hike. 

Yoga: Body Love yoga is a body acceptance based practice incorporating Yoga Asana, Meditation, Mindfulness, and Grounding. All levels, body sizes, and people are encouraged and welcome to join this practice. This practice understands and supports that each person will look different in each individual pose, as no body is the same as any other body. This practice encourages props for support, questions, and feeling into poses to find what works best for each body. This is a safe space to connect deeply. This practice understands that you are the only authority for your body. Inviting each individual to listen deeply to what feels good and what does not. We ask that everyone take as much space as is needed and wanted. This time is for radical self-care, and to meet the body with Maitri (unconditional loving kindness).

Getting There: John B. Yeon Trailhead is 40 minutes from Portland. Google Maps is a reliable source: type in "John B. Yeon trailhead." Driving directions from Portland: Drive I-84 east to Exit 35 for the Historic Highway, Ainsworth State Park, Dodson and Warrendale. After 0.1 mile, turn left for Dodson, Warrendale and Hood River. In another 0.1 miles, make a right turn onto NE Frontage Road for Dodson. Drive 2.1 miles on Frontage Road and then pull into parking on the right for John B. Yeon State Park.

This event is $15 per person, payable in cash or card the day of the event.
